WOW. I finally went outside. For many years of staying inside, I went outside. Boy was it fun going outside. But I was still kind of not use the outside world. It might take me a while to get use to it, if I ever go out again, which I probably would. The inconveniences in the outside world are what I was trying to get away from, and yet one was one that got me into the outside world. I went outside for the very reason I wanted to stay inside. It was so I can get away from all of the intensity and the trouble happening in the world. I heard the screaming of the children outside and knowing that no one else would hear it I went outside taking a kitchen knife with me and being able to see better in the dark because of being in my house for a long time allowed me to see what was happening outside. I just see a guy persecuting some kids. That’s when I step in. I just went in there got to the man and stabbed him in the soft jelly between the ribs. Then I took the unconscious Jem to his house knowing the Scout can get there on her own. When I got to the Finch’s house, I was allowed to bring Jem in. That is what truly happened, but I knew that telling that to Atticus would be bad. I know because it would make it seem that I was guilty of murder and was saving the kids lives. Also that if I did, his pride for Jem stabbing Mr. Ewell would go away in a much more difficult way. Jem was allegedly the one who killed Mr. Ewell as said by Atticus. I knew that Atticus consented to Mr. Tate’s story because he knew Jem was a gentleman and didn’t kill unless under certain circumstances. I also knew that his assessment to the situation was nothing and far beyond what it was at the start after the trial ended. I know now that many things in the outside world are avoidable, but also many aren’t. So the ones that aren’t are the ones that made me come out and see what is happen and what will keep on happening in different ways, in different places, and to different people. So I just have to remember that it is ok to live in a shell, but it’s better to go out and see.
