Bamboo Grove Final Post

1) The ending was very surprising because to me because it was ended so early. It was surprising to me that she ended it there even when she didn't put much about her father. I think that she should have explained more about what happened when Hideyo got over there. Also because I would like to see what happened with her father. It wasn't satisfying to me because there wasn't that much surprising because we all knew that Hideyo would come back. Also because that he just appeared there and didn't tell about his train ride or boat ride there. Some conflicts they covered are that Hideyo caught up to the family. Also that they don't have to woory about him that much any more.

2) I think that they study the Japanese culture because it is part of their culture. Also that it is part of their tradition. I also think that they study it so much because they want to learn as much as they can about Japan because they will need it for when they go to Japan. I think that it serves them about their culture and their tradition. Also to help them in Japan where they will really need it. I think that my family and I would observe blessing. Instead of of kissing we bless each other. Also that we pray before eating and type of food. Also saying opo (yes) because it is very respectful. We call people that is our family friends Tita (Aunt) and Tito (Uncle) even though they are not relatives. We will observe all of this because it is respectful and following traditions.

3) I respect Hideyo the most because he is a very strong person. He is a strong person mentally and physically. I think that he is a good person and very smart. I like him the best because he is the oldest child of the family and is the only boy child of the family. I also like him because it is hard to be alone traveling for months to get to his family. I also think that he is smart for failing the mental test, to join the army, so he can still see his family. I also think that he is a good person because he cares about other people as much as himself. I also like him because he is one of the leaders of the house and one of the strongest of the house. I think that he would be a better person if he still had his friends with him. I also like him because he traveled to Japan alone.

4) I learned that the war ended five days after the last of the bombs hit Japan. I also learned that they bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima because they are big cities. Also that they didn't bomb Kyoto because it had all the spiritual and cultural stuff that if they destroyed it, it would make the Japanese very mad and would start a huge war. I found interesting to read in the novel that people worked for ammunition factory. I also learned that it was very hard for Yoko to live all of this and that she would be scarred for life. I also learned that it was the Korean Communist Army started most of the life of Yoko in this book. I also know that the Korean Communist Army killed thousands of people. I learned that even though some people are Korean, they still were killed by the Korean Communist Army if they didn't want to join the army.

5) You can learn from this book that life is never fair, so just live it the best you can. Also that always treat people nice and they will treat you nice. Also that it shows that none has a perfect life. Also that this book tells you about the life Yoko during the bombing of Japan and the invasion of the Korean Communist Army. I think that is shows what happened to Yoko and her family during the invasion of the Korean Communist Army. I also think that it shows that it is a hard life for everyone and help other peopel so something good will happen to you. The themes of this book is to tell everybody what Yoko and her family has been through and to show people that everybody is different.
