Brother, I'm Dying Post #5

Quote #1:
My uncle was now alien 27041999. Narrator page 214.

Response #1:
I think this relates to the question number 4 because it is a challenge that the uncle has. It shows that they have a lot of immigrants that pass through the US. I think that the number 27041999 represents the number of illegal aliens in the US that they found. It shows a lot about the challenges this family is having.
I think that this person is a person who has a big heart because he would go and try to get to the US to hang out with his family and have a better life. Also I really like this person because he is very smart and hard to break through because it makes him seem like a good person. I also like him because he makes his love showable.

Question #1:
What do you thing the number 27041999 represents in the story?

Quote #2:
Is there relief for the applicant through the parole or vise waiver process? No.
Said the Narrator page 224.

Response #2:
I think that this shows the question #4 because it shows that a challenge is getting to become a citizen because you would need a lot of things that make you become a citizen and it takes a long time if you don't have those things. Also because it shows what the uncle is going through to become a citizen and it foresights what is going to happen next in the book.
I think I can relate to this quote because it shows what a fine young gentleman he is because he is going through this big procedure and taking it into his own arms and being a good sport about it instead of trying to avoid it. Also because he is trying to stay at the US even if it is going to take a long time and I am sometimes like that.

Question #2:
Why do you think is going to happen next?

Quote #1:
I liked the quote because Americans do call immigrants aliens, and Edwidge recognized that. Maybe the number could be which number immigrant Uncle Joseph was...it is a possibility. I would have been nervous too if my home was being raided and robbed by my neighbors, so I guess that is how Uncle Joseph's trip to America may be different than the others.

Question #1:
I agree that it is the number immigrant Uncle Joseph was, but I do not necessarily agree that it is the number of illegal aliens. Uncle Joseph had all of his papers taken care of in Haiti, and he's not going to LIVE in America, he is just staying with his family until things calm down in Haiti.

Quote #2:
I agree with your response to the quote because becoming a legal citizen in ANY country is a big hassle, and Uncle Joseph did seem to be taking it well. Mostly the only reason why people avoid becoming legal immigrants is because of the amount of stress and paperwork they have to go through in order to become legal citizens. But Uncle Joseph WANTS to go through the legal paperwork so then it will not haunt him or boomerang back to him later.

Question #2:
I actually have no insight of what is going to happen next, so I cannot answer that question. But a small prediction of mine is that there might be an issue with the paperwork, or a glitch in the computers. That is my guess.
