Quote #1:
I don't want him to die. Narrator, page 257.
Response #1:
I feel like this has a lot to do with the hardships they have while they have made their new life. I think this because it shows how hard life was going while their father was dying. It shows a lot about how she feels about her father and how much she loves her.
I think that she is a young clever girl who shows a lot of her emotion. She shows how she is feeling and what her emotions are, which is one good quality that might become a bad thing. She is a good girl who should know how life is and just because she doesn't want him to die, means he won't die.
Question #1:
What would you do if you were in Edwidge's place?
Quote #2:
"If our country were ever given a chance and allowed to be a country like any other, none of us would live or die here." Said Edwidge's father. page 251
Response #2:
It shows how much they feel about the US and about their old country, Haitai, and what they mean to them. It shows a reason why they left Haitai, which was because they had a lot of problems with their government and the laws, and why they went to the US. It shows a lot of feelings about their old country and that they would love it and never go to the US if Haitai was like more countries.
I think that it relates to me because if school was ever given a chance to be like my house, I would have never left school for a long time and just visit my house as if it was a different country. Also I think that it is the place that matters and the people that care that might make a person leave, stay, or come.

I agree with you because I also think that she loves her father every much and would walk to the end of the earth to make him happy or help him. I disagree with you on the part that says that she is a childish little girl. I think that she is grown up and doesn’t think that just because she doesn’t want him to die that he won’t.
Question #1
I would try to help my father as much as I could.
Quote #2
I agree with you because I thin that they left because the government was bad. I really liked this quote because you talk about 1 of the push and pull factors of why they wanted to leave Haiti and come to America.
Question #2
No, there isn’t any way I could connect to this.
